Diverse Agricultural Practices:
From honey production to pears, mangoes, cassava, and pig farming, etc, we engage in a myriad of agricultural activities that promote biodiversity conservation, recycling of resources and economic resilience within target communities. Agroforestry and Forest Gardens:

Who we are
and what we do
At inception in 2002, the National Development Foundation (NDEF) had as main objective to cater for people living with disability, young orphans, widows and other vulnerable people in society. A few years later, NDEF decided not to ‘give out fish’ to hungry persons all the time, thus the Organisation opted for the provision of
technical and sustainable solutions to the problems of destitute people instead. From 2005, NDEF changed orientation from social relief activities to technically empowering clients to fend for themselves. This is typically done in collaboration
with like-minded organisations whose activities streamline with those of NDEF. We now work to empower smallholder farmers to use improved technical and sustainable agricultural practices to reduce the vulnerability of their households to food, health and income insecurity while ensuring a sound environmental management. We currently work in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. In the North West, we work in Mezam, Momo and Menchum Divisions and in the South West, we work in Manyu Division.

At NDEF Cameroon, our vision is rooted in the cultivation of positive changes. We specialize in plantain nursery and growing, Cassava cultivation, propagation and cultivation of fruit trees, etc, recognizing the vital role that the selected crops play in local economies and diets. By imparting knowledge and resources to local farmers, we aim to see fields flourish with healthy crops, ensuring both food security and economic sustainability.
Harvesting Hope:
Production of honey, cultivation of fruits, moringa, cassava and the processing of Garri are integral components of our vision. Through these diverse agricultural pursuits, we aim to not only to meet immediate needs but also to create a resilient foundation for the communities we serve. Harvesting hope means empowering individuals with the skills and tools necessary for a prosperous and self-sufficient future.
Sustainable Livestock Practices:
Our vision extends to poultry farming, pig farming, fishing in containers, goat and sheep farming where we emphasize ethical and sustainable practices. By prioritizing the well-being of our animals and promoting responsible farming, we contribute to both the economic and environmental vitality of target communities.
Nurturing Nature:
NDEF Cameroon champions agroforestry and forest gardens, recognizing the importance of coexisting with nature. Our vision involves creating spaces where tree crops, food crops and livestock harmonize, promoting biodiversity, enriching soil health, and ultimately contributing to a more sustainable, circular and balanced ecosystem.

Target Population
Target Population
At NDEF Cameroon we are committed to building the resilience of rural and suburban communities in Cameroon. Our approach is based on the following target populations.
Small Scale Farmers
Small scale farmers constituted into Common Initiative Groups (CIGs) and Cooperatives. NDEF does not work with individual farmers directly. We work with groups of farmers composed of all genders.
Women
NDEF finds women to be instrumental in ensuring national food security, as well as in the future of sustainable agriculture. Although women make up a growing proportion of the agricultural labour force, they however, make up a disproportionately large number of unpaid and low-paid seasonal or part-time workers.
